Stefanos Korkolis was born in Athens, Greece.
In 1991 he presented his composition "Thalassa" at the opening of the European Swimming Competition. During '90s he appears in discography as a singer of his compositions and besides the albums and the concerts regarding Greek songs and music, he collaborates with orchestras such as the Prague Radio Orchestra, the Sofia Radio Orchestra, the Amadeus Orchestra, the Camerata and others as a soloist and composer. He has participated in the greatest festivals of the world and he has recently performed at the Athens Concert Hall, Thessaloniki Concert Hall, Odeon Herodus Atticus, at the Prague Festival, the Carre Theatre of Amsterdam, the Dresden Classic Festival, Berlin etc. He has composed, for the account of the International Olympic Committee the Special Olympics anthem. He is also the Composer and Musical Director for the 2011 Special Olympics that will take place in Athens Greece. He has also collaborated with the famous Portuguese artist Dulce Pontes touring around the world since 2003, being her permanent conductor, orchestrator and pianist. The most recent concerts took place at the Opera of La Corunia, at the Concertbaum in Netherlands, Centro Cultural de Belem in Lisbon Portugal and in Brazil. Through his career, Stefanos has performed in front of filled stadiums in Greece, Cyprus and Italy. His discography has earned him multiple platinum records. His cd entitled “Anemoptero” was released in March 2004 with the participation of many important singers like, George Dalaras, Dimitra Galani, Dulce Pontes, Alkistis Protopsalti.
The multidimensional musical personality of
composer and pianist Stefanos Korkolis has been constantly remarkable with his
intense creative presence in the Greek and world music scenes. As a pianist,
composer and also producer he has made a great number of important appearances
in Greece and abroad. His recent collaboration with Alkistis Protopsalti
resulted in three new songs in her album titled "Na se vlepo na gelas" (“To
watch you laugh”), among them her hit "O Aggelos mou" (“My Angel”). For this
song Korkolis received the Arion award as the best composer of the year. He constantly receives invitations from various countries for classic concerts. He composes music for the television the theatre and movies. In November 2005, the musical “Don Quixote” was produced by the National Theatre of Greece, composed by Stefanos Korkolis. Meanwhile, he continues his collaborations as a song composer with various artists in Greece and abroad. In October 2006, the album of Russian singer Linda entitled "Aleada" was released with Stefanos' participation as a composer, producer and orchestrator. His worldwide collaborations include: Michalis Kakoyiannis (Director of the Film Zorba the Greek), Alfredo Kraus, Jose Carreras, Vicki Leandros, Irene Pappas, The Scorpions, Nana Mouskouri, Lucio Dalla, and Ennio Morricone.
